Beverley’s story was a highlight, but Maxwell’s was just okay. The other narratives were forgettable and not worth the effort. I only read the novella by Lori Foster, and it was a pleasant read. As I read, I felt like I was experiencing the story firsthand, the characters’ emotions and motivations transmitted to me through some sort of literary osmosis, the book a poignant reminder that some stories synopsis meant to be savored, their beauty and complexity unfolding like a flower in bloom.
